About Sunbula
Sunbula, founded in 1996, is a Jerusalem-based nonprofit organization committed
to promoting social justice and economic empowerment of the marginalized. Its
mission is to support Palestinian women’s
cooperatives and disabled people’s self-help groups by providing marketing and
sales opportunities for their products and assisting in the development of their
skills and capacity.
Sunbula is Palestine’s leading
Fair Trade organization
with more than a decade of experience in supporting family income generation
needs, and is regarded as one of the best suppliers of finest quality
traditional crafts.
Sunbula currently works with 13 craft-producing organizations
across the West Bank, Gaza Strip and Israel. More than 1800 artisans earn
much-needed income through the sales of their crafts by Sunbula.
Sunbula offers the following assistance to the craft producers. • Marketing, sales, and promotion of Palestinian crafts. • Providing access to market for groups who would otherwise have few sales
outlets. • Assistance in quality control, product design and development. • Provide training for technical skills, organizational management and finances. • Obtaining grants on their behalf.
Sunbula’s administration and sales outlet have been hosted inside
St. Andrews Scottish
Church and Guesthouse in Jerusalem since 1988, when Carol Morton, wife of
Rev. Colin Morton, founded Craftaid, Sunbula’s predecessor.
