Introducing Jamaa'in Women's Society
Our New Partner and Palestinian Basketry
|
Sunbula is happy to welcome Jamaa'in Women's Society
as our newest partner producer. Located in the village of Jamaa'in
near Nablus, this grassroots initiative has been serving140 women
through social and educational programs since 1996. It also strives to
provide a wage-earning opportunity through the basketry, a tradition
that has been passed down through generations in Palestinian farming
communities. The women weave household items using local wheat straws, olive and fruit tree branches abundant in their surroundings.
The
beautifully woven baskets and trays from Jamaa'in are now available at
Sunbula Craft Shop in Jerusalem, and are coming soon to Sunbula Online
Craft Market!
