$ 52
This is the first how-to book to be published on the Bethlehem ‘tahriri’ couching embroidery, the lesser-known but equally important to the popular ‘fallahi’ cross-stitch in traditional Palestinian embroidery. The book is designed to guide learners from the basics to the advanced level of tahriri embroidery through illustrated stitching instructions and tracing patterns for 27 most common motifs. The book also features the historical background, technical information, interviews with embroiderers, and a number of photographs of the traditional dresses to provide a visual introduction to this craft. Made in cooperation with the Women’s Child Care Society, the only institution in Palestine specializing in tahriri embroidery, the book is a sequel to Sunbula’s 2019 publication, ‘Seventeen Embroidery Techniques from Palestine: An Instruction Manual’. 108 pages. Written by Nadya Hazbunova and Shirabe Yamada, with OmarJoseph Nasser-Khoury and Tania Nasir. A Sunbula publication, 2026.
